- John Welsh was recognized as the "Massachusetts Labor & Employment Attorney of the Year" by Corporate INTL Magazine in their 2011 Global Awards.
- Bello Black & Welsh has been recognized by U.S. News as one of the "Best Law Firms" in 2011-2012 in the area of management-side labor and employment law.
- Bello Black & Welsh sponsored a table at the Women's Bar Association Annual Gala on November 17, 2011, where guest speakers included the Honorable Margaret Marshall, who recently retired as Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
- Josh Black recently was elected to the "Best Lawyers in America" in the practice area of Employment Law - Management.
- On September 22, 2011, the Firm announced that the formation of an “of counsel” affiliate relationship with Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm. Click here to view a copy of the press release.
- John Welsh recently was honored by his alma mater, St. John's High School, for his many contributions and distinguished service to the school. Among other things, John was recognized for his service on the Board of Trustees, for helping create a framework to facilitate dialogue among St. John's constituents (including students, families and administrators), and for his commitment to ensuring the school remains affordable to students from the Worcester area.
2009
- Bello Black & Welsh sponsored a table at the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts's Annual Gala on October 14, 2009. The Gala is the WBA's largest annual event, with hundreds of women attorneys from across the Commonwealth in attendance.
- On September 29, 2009, Jenn Belli made a presentation to the Frank J. Murray Inn of Court regarding recent developments in the law of arbitration. The Murray Inn of Court is a group of judges and lawyers who meet regularly to discuss legal issues relating to practice in the Massachusetts state courts.
- On April 3, 2009, Steve Weatherhead and Jennifer Belli gave a presentation on the recent updates to the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

- For the second year in a row John Welsh has been selected by Law and Politics as a "Super Lawyer" and as one of the top 100 attorneys in New England.
- John Welsh has been inducted as a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. This recognition is considered the most prestigious honor bestowed by colleagues in the field of labor and employment law. This award is based on sustained outstanding achievement and excellence in the practice of labor and employment law. Recipients of this award are recognized leaders in the field who have exemplified integrity, dedication and professional excellence.
- For the third year in a row, Bello Black & Welsh was ranked by Chambers USA as one of the premier Labor & Employment law firms in Massachusetts.
- On July 20, 2008 Josh Black competed for the second time in the IronMan USA triathlon in Lake Placid, NY. In heavy rain that lasted all day, Josh swam 2.4 miles, biked 112 miles in the Adirondacks and then ran a 3:39 marathon (i.e., 26.2 miles), finishing in 10:34 and placing in the top 100 amateurs out of an international field of almost 2,400 competitors. - Steve Weatherhead and Jenn Belli were panelists at the Council on Education in Management's "2008 Employment Law Hot Topics" conference on June 25, 2008. Steve provided an overview of the legal ramifications of common human resource policies. Jenn spoke on recent developments under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
2007
- On November 8, 2007, Steve Weatherhead gave a presentation to a group of Massachusetts' General Counsels entitled "Medical Leaves of Absence: The Overlap and Interplay between the FMLA, the ADA, Workers' Compensation, Small Necessities Leave Laws and Maternity Leave Laws."
- Steven Weatherhead was selected as a Massachusetts Rising Star for 2007. The findings are published in the May 2007 issue of Boston Magazine and in a stand-alone magazine, Massachusetts Super Lawyers 2007 - Rising Stars Edition. Massachusetts Rising Stars are selected by attorneys who were previously selected as Super Lawyers in 2006 by Law & Politics. These attorneys were asked to nominate the best up and coming lawyers they have personally observed in action. Rising Stars must be 40 years old or younger, or in practice for 10 years or less. Only 2.5 percent of Massachusetts lawyers were named 2007 Massachusetts Rising Stars.
- On May 9, 2007, John Welsh spoke at the Massachusetts Bar Association's 28th Annual Labor & Employment Law Conference on the topic of electronic discovery.
- Bello Black & Welsh sponsored a table at the 2007 In-House Leaders in the Law event on April 26, 2007, a gala dinner-awards event honoring a select group of in-house counsel for their outstanding professional accomplishments.
