Josh is a co-founder of BBW, and he serves as the Firm's Managing Partner. He is an experienced litigator who has represented employers at dozens of hearings, trials, and arbitrations in state and federal courts and agencies in many different jurisdictions. Josh has also successfully argued appeals before the United States Courts of Appeals. Josh recently obtained a defense verdict at a sexual harassment trial in Albany, New York.
Josh, who was a teacher and coach prior to law school, also regularly counsels and provides training to clients on good management practices and compliance with the myriad of labor and employment issues that companies face today. Josh trains managers and human resources professionals on many subjects, including the management of physical and mental disabilities and employee leaves of absence, drug and alcohol testing programs, performance management programs, safe and effective hiring techniques, and conducting workplace investigations.
Josh also counsels and represents defense industry clients concerning security clearance matters and has tried many cases before the United States Department of Defense, Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals.
For several years, Josh has been honored as one of the top Labor and Employment lawyers in Boston by Chambers & Partners. He has been included in the New England Super Lawyers list of Top Attorneys in New England and was elected to the "Best Lawyers in America" in 2011.
Josh received his B.A., cum laude, from Duke University and was selected for the Golden Key National Honor Society. Josh earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Environmental Law Journal. In 1996, Josh received the American Bar Association's Award for Excellence in the Study of Labor and Employment Law. For several years, Josh served as Chairman of the Northeast Human Resources Association's Professional Development Committee and as Chairman of the Town of Wellesley's Human Resources Board. Josh is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding Program. Josh is also an active member of Team Psycho (www.teampsycho.com), a triathlon team based in New England, and has served as a Board Member and team President. Prior to co-founding Bello Black LLP, Josh was a member of the Employment, Labor, Benefits and Immigration Section of Mintz Levin, one of the 50 largest U.S. law firms.
